File cards administered by the Archive of the ÚPN are either nominal or categorised.
Nominal file cards are archived alphabetically according to person’s surname within individual units of the Ministry of Interior (National Security Corps), e.g. Regional Directorate of ZNB State Security Directorate Bratislava, and they include basic data of the person along with type of agenda of the dossiers related to that person.
Categorised file cards are archived as follows:
1. Chronologically (file cards within the fund of Military Counterintelligence);
2. According to purpose (file cards of persons dealing with state and official secret);
3. According to type of agenda of the dossiers (agency dossiers, informers’ dossiers, dossiers of candidates to become the secret collaborators, dossiers of secret collaborators, dossiers of residents, object dossiers and signal dossiers) being used for statistical and evaluation purposes.
