Goals and tasks
Basic tasks of the Historical Archives
a) Information amendment in the form of providing access to archived documents for persons who are mentioned in these documents. Anyone may read and obtain a copy of those documents or experts that pertain to them, or their family relations as determined by law.
b) Providing access to archived documents for research purposes as a form of collective information amendment, which enables the production and publication of historical works that explore or discuss the recent past within their respective genres.
c) The archival management, systemization and processing of documents in order to comply with the two tasks outlines above: studying and publishing documents stored at the Historical Archives or other places of research that pertain to Hungarian state security, and participating in current historical and political scientific research that analyzes the organization and operation of key institutions of the Hungarian political system between 1944-1990.
d) Cooperation regarding the use of archived sources for educational and public dissemination purposes.
