Milestones of the institutions/archives
The Historical Archives holds 4,600 linear meters of documents, 102 audio cassettes and 271 microfilms. It contains approximately 55 000 photographs, of which 7,186 are freely searchable and available on our website.
3,823 photos and 7,856 photo negatives were donated by private individuals.
The Archives holds 24,289 of index card No. 6, but the network documents are more extensive, as this number does not include the so-called index card No. 6/a, 6/d and statistical data sheets.
The Historical Archives’ materials include 6.6 million pages of digitized documents.
The Historical Archives holds 135 reel-to-reel tapes, 124 audio cassettes, 14 vinyl records, 6 CDs and 1 DVD with sound material.
The Historical Archives also holds 18 rolls of magnetic tape. Among the records kept and managed by the Ministry of the Interior on computers, the magnetic tapes were three of the state security-related databases (G-, H-, K-database), that were retrieved in January 1990 on then-contemporary data carriers. The magnetic tapes were kept by the Office of National Security and its successor, the Constitution Protection Office until 2017 when they were handed over to the Historical Archives.
