Institute of National Remembrance  Commission for the Prosecution of the Crimes against Polish Nation was formed on 19th january 1999 following the Act of 18th December 1998 on Institute.

The Institute took over the competences and obligations of the former Head Commission for the Prosecution of the Crimes against Polish Nation.
